Welcome!

Hello, and thank you for visiting my online portfolio blog. Throughout this blog you will have the opportunity to examine work that I have completed for both the Political Science Department and the Communication Studies Department at The College of New Jersey. These examples are representative of much of the work I have accomplished as an undergraduate college student. Along with my educational and employment background, this blog highlights a few things about myself that will give you a better understanding of who I am. Thanks again for taking the time to look over my online portfolio, and I hope you like what you see.

Education

The College of New Jersey has afforded me the opportunity to receive what I believe has been a world class education. The classes are a good size, discussion based, and led by highly-qualified professors. I have had the good fortune of being able to grow as a person, student, and future member of the work force by completing many papers and projects. Attached below are some examples of work I have completed for classes at The College of New Jersey.

Employment

While I have been a student at The College of New Jersey, I have had the chance to develop myself in a professional field as well. During the summer of 2009 I interned at S&S Public Relations in Princeton, NJ; and from October of 2009 until January of 2010 I was an intern at The Garfield Group in Newtown, NJ. Both of these internships were in mid-size public relations agencies that mainly represented companies in the technology industry. My work consisted primarily of media relations, pitching the media to gain coverage for clients, and of media research and development in support of my co-workers. These internships allowed me to work in the public relations field and to see and understand first-hand how successful public relations work is done.

Background Information

I would like to take a moment now to talk a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Middletown, Monmouth County, NJ. Living not too far from the beach I have been an avid beach person all my life and have been surfing year round since I was about 16. During the last four years I have grown tremendously as a person, and have enjoyed it all the while. When I graduate I will deeply miss this school and the people I have grown close to here, while still being excited for the future. Also, I am very interested in politics, as would be expected of a political science major. I became set on being in public relations as a career about halfway through my junior year. I felt that it was the perfect intersect of my skills and abilities and would be a career that I could excel at, enjoy, and could one day lead me places.
